HOW SHOULD THE AQA A LEVEL BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE BOOK BE USED?

Here are a several ways that teachers and students can get the best out of the Knowledge Book.

1. Homework

The Knowledge Book is split into 10 sections, mapping the entire content of the AQA A Level Business specification. After key content has been taught, teachers could set certain pages for homework to ensure that students are equipped with the essential knowledge required to be successful in AQA A Level Business. This can then be reviewed in class.

2. Bellwork / Starter Activity

As students enter the class room, students could complete one or two activities in the Knowledge Book depending on what they have covered in the previous lesson(s).

For example, as students move onto 3.2, they could be asked to complete elements of section 3.1 of the Knowledge Book as they enter the classroom. This would work particularly well for Year 13 students as teachers could ask them to complete sections 3.1 - 3.6 over a series of lessons to ensure they are constantly recapping year 1 content.

The benefit of this approach? At the end of the course students have a fully completed Knowledge Book. Perfect for revision!

3. Revision

The Knowledge Book is also perfect for revision and could be completed as part of revision lessons or at home in the weeks leading up to the exams.

4. Lesson Activities

The Knowledge Book could also be used as part of a general lesson. For example, after a teacher has taught a particular topic, students could complete the relevant part of the Knowledge Book as a consolidation activity. This also ensures that they have a full set of 'class notes'.

5. Flipped Learning

The Knowledge Book also facilitates flipped learning. Teachers could ask students to complete sections of the Knowledge Book prior to lessons therefore ensuring students are familiar with the essential knowledge, allowing teachers to focus on developing application, analysis and evaluation.
