Singer Steve Walsh had left the band two years earlier and violinist Robby Steinhardt just recently. Steve was replaced by John Elefante and joining the band on this tour are Michael Gleason and Terry Brock. What makes this unique is it's one of the last known recordings just weeks before the band fell apart. Kerry Livgren, Dave Hope, Michael Gleason, former Bloodrock singer Warren Ham (who had been part of the Vinyl Confessions tour line-up) and drummer Dennis Holt joined forces and started the Christian rock band AD the following year. Kansas was reborn (no pun intended) in 1985, but without Livgren, Hope and Steinhardt. The new line-up, besides Steve Walsh, drummer Phil Ehart and guitarist Rich Williams, included bassist Billy Greer (whom Walsh had worked with in Streets), guitarist Steve Morse (formerly of the Dixie Dregs, who has since gone on to rejoin that band and has been a member of Deep Purple from 1994 on). |
